A Flight Interrupted

Every time I happen to witness a random act of kindness and selflessness, my trust in the good of humanity grows generously. A dove hung upside down from the topmost branch of a naked tree by what seemed to be a piece of thread that acted as glue binding the poor thing with apparent death. A guy who sold roadside burgers and his friend along with some neighborhood children took the onus upon themselves to try and help the bird. It was a tough task as the branches at the top half of the tree seem frail. With a lot of effort and unsolicited risk their endeavor finally turned fruitful. The bird struggled in maintaining a fair balance in its crash to the road only to be rescued once again from getting crushed under a precarious tire. The string was removed from its legs to set its spirit free. The bird was weary but all right. In about ten minutes of the rescue it began to rain profusely confirming the fact that the creature had fluttered on slippery grounds in that delicate hour. This incident once again brought the fragility of life back to me.
